Here are the instructions to make Gulab Jamun, a popular Indian dessert:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup full-fat milk powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 tablespoons ghee, melted
- 1/3 cup whole milk, at room temperature
- Oil, for frying
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Sliced almonds or pistachios, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
- Add the melted ghee to the mixture and mix until it resembles coarse sand.
- Gradually add the whole milk and mix to form a smooth and soft dough. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them between your palms until they are smooth and round.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Add the balls to the hot oil and fry them until they turn golden brown on all sides. Remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a separate saucepan, add the sugar and water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes until the syrup thickens. Add the cardamom powder and stir.
- Add the fried balls to the syrup and let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
- Serve the Gulab Jamun warm or at room temperature, garnished with sliced almonds or pistachios, if desired.
Enjoy the sweet and syrupy Gulab Jamun, a delicious dessert that's perfect for any occasion!
