"Authentic Indian Butter Chicken Recipe: How to Make this Classic Dish at Home"


Here's a recipe for one of the most popular Indian dishes - Butter Chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the chicken pieces on the sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly browned.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the tomato puree and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the baked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat with the tomato puree. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the heavy cream and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  6. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Garnish with fresh cilantro, if desired.
  7. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
